In the high-stakes world of executive leadership, particularly within technology and operations, there is often a dangerous divide. On one side, you have the "Keep the Lights On" technicians, focused purely on stability and uptime. On the other, the "Blue Sky" strategists, focused on vision but detached from execution.

I have spent my 25+ year career bridging that gap.

I am an experienced Chief Information Officer, Healthcare Executive, and Enterprise Transformation Strategist. My passion lies not simply in implementing new systems, but in fundamentally reshaping how organizations operate. I believe that true digital transformation occurs only when technology serves the mission, drives revenue, and empowers the people who use it. Whether navigating the complexities of a merger, modernizing legacy infrastructure, or ensuring rigorous regulatory compliance, I operate at the intersection of technical governance and business strategy.

Whether I am serving as a full-time executive or a fractional consultant, my goal is the same: to align complex IT ecosystems with the organization’s mission and critical business objectives to deliver measurable ROI.

The Challenge: Innovation Under Pressure

To understand how I work, it helps to look at a specific, high-pressure problem I solved.

In the highly regulated world of healthcare, compliance isn't just a checkbox; it is often a massive administrative burden that threatens funding. I faced a significant challenge with the Ryan White "Cap on Charges" legislative requirement. This is a complex federal mandate that requires organizations to track a patient's income against their cumulative medical-related charges, regardless of where those charges were incurred, to ensure vulnerable populations are not billed more than they can afford.

The logic required to track this is complex. Many organizations manage this with fragmented spreadsheets and manual entry, using multiple FTEs just to keep up. Or worse, they don’t manage it at all. Both approaches are recipes for human error, staff burnout, and significant compliance risk.

I saw an opportunity for genuine digital transformation. I designed a first-of-its-kind automated tracking system that handled this complex logic instantly. I architected a solution that pulled real-time data from in-house patient records, enabled secure patient uploads of external medical-related charges, and provided automated, secure patient notifications of their Cap on Charges progress and a final notification once the cap has been met.

The result was a seamless, automated workflow that ensured 100% compliance without the manual overhead. The innovation was so effective that it was requested for presentation at the HRSA National Conference as a best-practice model for the industry.

The Takeaway: This wasn't just a healthcare win. It was a data logic and workflow automation win. It proves that no matter the industry, whether Finance, Manufacturing, or Tech, I can deconstruct complex regulatory requirements and build automated solutions that ensure compliance while freeing your team to focus on high-value work.

My Philosophy: People | Process | Technology | Results

Digital transformation often fails because leaders get the order wrong—they put technology first. My leadership approach is grounded in a prioritized framework: People | Process | Technology | Results.

Here is how I apply this to every initiative:

This isn't just a management hierarchy; it is the project management methodology I apply to every initiative, ensuring that we solve the right problems for the right users.

1. People First (Mentorship, Stakeholders & End-Users)

Technology is the tool, but people are the engine. This applies equally to the teams I lead and the end-users we serve. My leadership style is a deliberate hybrid of Transformational Leadership and Servant Leadership.

  • Mentorship & Development: I don't just manage teams; I build future leaders. I have a history of mentoring high-performing teams to foster a culture of accountability and excellence. In a previous role, I built and supervised a centralized Training Department and implemented an enterprise Learning Management System (LMS) to ensure every staff member had a clear pathway for skill acquisition.

  • Stakeholder & User Focus: In project management, "People" means understanding the end-user. Whether it's a clinician needing a faster EHR workflow or a grant administrator needing automated reporting, success starts with empathy. I engage stakeholders early to ensure we are solving the right human problems before we discuss technical solutions.

2. Process (Strategic Alignment & Workflow Optimization)

Before we write a single line of code or make a single decision, we must understand the workflow. I use proven frameworks like ADKAR (Awareness, Desire, Knowledge, Ability, Reinforcement) to manage change.

  • Operational Efficiency: We map current states and design future states that reduce friction. For example, by optimizing the referral management workflow for dental services, we didn't just install software; we automated approval steps that frustrated staff, significantly improving tracking and compliance. I love a good flowchart!

  • Scalable Governance: This ensures that we aren't just deploying software; we are upgrading organizational culture. By establishing clear SOPs and governance frameworks, I ensure that processes remain efficient and scalable long after the project launch.

3. Technology (The Enabler & Solution)

Technology exists to support the People and the Process, not the other way around. Whether it is a cloud migration, a new ERP system, or an AI integration, I ensure that every tech investment is scalable, secure, ethical, and directly tied to a business need.

  • Modernization: I have led migrations from legacy on-premises systems to fully cloud-based architectures, enhancing data accessibility for distributed teams.

  • Innovation: I leverage tools like Power BI, Relevant, and predictive analytics not just for "cool factor" but to deliver actionable insights, such as forecasting patient no-shows to increase appointment utilization by 20%.

4. Results (The Outcome & ROI)

When the first three pillars are aligned, the results follow naturally. This framework has enabled me to deliver operational efficiency and financial sustainability consistently.

  • Measurable Impact: This approach has delivered hard numbers, slashing IT operating costs by 20% and reducing grant processing time from 2.5 weeks to 2 days.

  • Sustainable Success: Beyond the metrics, the result is a resilient organization where technology enables the mission rather than hindering it.

The Business Case: Why I Deliver ROI

While culture and mentorship are critical, I understand that the C-Suite and the Board, among other things, care about the bottom line. My approach to Budget Stewardship and Resource Allocation is aggressive and data-driven.

Here is what that looks like in practice:

  • Human Capital ROI: My investment in staff development isn't just altruistic; it's strategic. By centralizing training and prioritizing mentorship, I reduce turnover, accelerate new-hire time-to-productivity, and build a resilient workforce capable of handling complex challenges.

  • Cost Reduction: I have a proven track record of slashing IT operating costs by 20% through cloud-first infrastructure transitions, vendor negotiation, and regular expense reviews.

  • Revenue Optimization: I don't just cut costs; I accelerate revenue. I revolutionized a grant reporting process by automating data imports, reducing processing time from 2.5 weeks to just 2 days, ensuring timely monthly drawdowns of $300K.

  • Risk Management: From serving as a HIPAA Security Officer to authoring Disaster Recovery & Business Continuity Plans, and board-approved Quality Plans, I ensure that enterprise growth never comes at the expense of security or compliance.

Looking Ahead: How We Can Work Together

I am currently opening my calendar for new opportunities. I am seeking roles as a Chief Information Officer (CIO), Chief Operating Officer (COO), VP of Information Technology, or a similar executive role.

I am flexible in how I engage with the right organization:

  • Full-Time Leadership: Ready to lead in-house teams. I am open to remote, hybrid, or on-site arrangements, and to relocation for an opportunity where my experience can make a meaningful impact.

  • Fractional/Consulting: Available through The Hennick Group for interim leadership, strategic advisory, or specific digital transformation projects.
